Hi Jack,

The Acer announcement really suprised me when it came out and
it caused me to by more Iomega stock (which I later regretted!)

I truly don't know how they are going to make money on that thing.
I started adding up the factory costs... then boom I lose it.

To tell the truth, I have no response to that. My only guess (and it
firms up several other counter-points given by you, Ken and Trakker) is that
they are eating the additional factory cost, in hopes they will sell
more devices given the 'ZIP' name. Also, maybe it will be 'standard'
equipment required for net boxes? who knows. What I do know is that
if I was on the design team, I would have put a floppy in and let
the customer buy the ZIP as an add-on if he/she wanted! That decision
would have netted the company over 11 billion bucks (assuming 200 million
sold lifetime). Not bad for a days work!

Anyway, good points guys
