From the FWIW column........

I spent part of my christmas vacation scanning quite a few of
the 'where to put your money in 1998' issues of some of the
usual suspects....everything i could find in fact. I know it
is pretty much drivel, but I do like looking for common themes
and then looking into them myself. It has helped me narrow
down some choices in the past. However, the reason I am
writing this note is to say I was astounded to find that
KLA-Tencor seemed to pop up everywhere. I have done this
little exercise for at least the past 10 years, and I have
never been so struck by the consistency with which the large
popular rags have picked a single, relatively unknown name.
(unknown, i would think, to the 'average' investor.

Like I said, drivel, but mighty interesting.
