Intel has been "reminding" analysts that historically their margins have been about 50% - and to expect these margins to descend to these levels.

Intel's stated goal is to expand margin dollars = PROFITS - and not necessarily gross margin. I assume they expect to sell more lower margin components/devices in order to expand their profits.

Let's face it - Intel's profit levels over the past couple of years have been spectacular - it's a tough act to follow!
