Perhaps. But if you made $100K/year for 30 years, you paid in well less than $40,000. Your employer would have matched that. Think about how far that goes paying toward the average person's health care costs. Because Medicare doesn't pay its way, the other half of your bills are dumped on those of us who are paying for health insurance.

That wasn't true before 1965, and it was not nearly so true in 1985 as it was 1995 or later. That is just reality.

Hence, you probably did NOT pay for my parents, and certainly did not pay anywhere NEAR for them what we're paying for yours.

It is the law, and I accept that. But today's beneficiaries should know that they're taking money from their own children's future. And from those of us who are still working.
