Jeff,
Ah, the hard part... when to buy and when to sell. Sell early, and watch it continue to go up. Hold to allow it go up, and it doesn't. Isn't Murphy a wonderful guy? I'm trying to make myself take some profits sooner instead of waiting it out until it's no longer profitable in companies which seem riskier, but aren't they all actually!? The market or the track...which form of gambling do you like better....oh, yeah....one is called investing, so it's not the same thing! ;)
Seriously, it looks like the theme restaurant industry had to cool off some, and RAIN just took a bit longer to do it. Nevertheless, they are expected to at least meet their qtrly. expectations, and this is coming up shortly. Also, there is a good chance a new president will come into play, not to mention previously unknown locations to be announced for later opening. Then, throw in the store which we're not sure truly exists(Palisades) and a very big gun in april with the next Disney(which will be huge, as the new animal kingdom is, if memory serves, more than 5x larger than the magic kingdom, and will only have RAIN as its one sit-down restaurant), there should plenty of reason for RAIN to start moving again in the coming weeks/months, not bothering to consider the upcoming split. FWIW, there was an article in the Palm Beach Post Business section today entitled "Ahunger to dine out means restaurant sales will rise." It generally referred to the expected continued growth this year as per the National Restaurant Assoc.'s forecast for '98, predicting a 4.7% increase over '97, with the largest total sales volume expected in the 8-state south Atlantic region, which includes Florida...Fl sales alone are expected to rise to nearly 17$ bill., up a billion from '97...maybe RAIN knows what they're doing after all opening up so many places around this state.
In other words, I'm too chicken to take anything out of RAIN at this point after all of this time holding with all of the prospects to chase after companies and technologies I don't really understand all that well. That's why I put more money in the far safer biotech arena! ;) Still hanging onto the other one we had spoken of here a long time ago, ATIS, with baited breath, but I don't like to mix foreskin uses with restaurant talk when I can help it.
Still think Netscape is good stuff, but now I'll have to root harder for it. Good luck. Think I'll stop babbling for a bit now.
Take care and good investing.
