I can't imagine why you couldn't clone your SSD to a larger capacity SSD.

I haven't gotten an M.2 drive yet, but I'm learning fast. M.2 drives use PCIe lanes and can be connected to PCIe slots, but require an adapter to do so. Ideally the way to connect them is a dedicated M.2 slot which you have. Also M.2 slots mount the drive parallel to the motherboard.

These 4 videos show a lot. Wish I could combine parts of all of them into a single video, but I would be sure to get complaints by some authors.
