We have just started the process of selling our homes. We meet with our respective brokers on Friday. We are leaning toward moving to a tax free state, Henderson, NV and rent for a year and see if we like it. Coming from NYC, it might be too much of a culture shock and we'll have to move again to Oregon. Rents in Henderson, NV (15 miles from Las Vegas) are half of what they are in NYC. Seems cheap compared to the King Bubble of the NYC market.
My wife is giving me two shots here. If NV and OR don't work out, next stop is Buenos Aires, Argentina, where she owns a home. But I expect OR to work out. But I prefer a state that does not tax SS and is tax free, along with not being Red.
