The driver of AI and robotics will be employers, like Uber. The ONLY way Uber can succeed is if self-driving cars become a reality, because an Uber fare only covers 40% of the cost of an Uber ride. Other employers are champing at the bit to replace their employees with AI and robots, that will work 24/7/365, minus downtime for maintenance and upgrades. Once they are fully amortized, that labor is 'free'! The only humans that can come anywhere near competing with that are slaves. AI and robots are slaves without the guilt or social stigma. Employers are in love with the idea of losing all human employees, who are just needy black holes of cost and grief.
