Hi Jay:
The RTG technology does not compete in any way with 3D acceleration chips. What it does do is allow 3D objects to dynamically change in resolution (the amount of data - often triangles - needed to describe the surface of a 3D object). The way it does it is new, and represents some improvements over older stuff, although I have already seen some even better stuff recently (sorry, no name, it's coming from a private company). In no way however, would I call RTG's technology "revolutionary". It is not going to change a majorityof people's life anytime soon, if ever. Consequently, its potential impact on revenues and earnings, will in my opinion remain limited to whatever technology licensing deals can be signed. There was the agreement announced with the 3D scanner company. For the rest, we'll have to see though I do not expect deals from companies such as Intel and Microsoft who: have people who can do it on their own (Microsoft) or can buy even newer better stuff (both Intel and Microsoft).
I think MCRE's near term future is much more closely linked to their capability (or not) to release a continuous stream of consumer products a la Goo and Soap, and sustain said sales.
Eric
