Come on, if someone can come up with $200 million to film Titanic, someone can come up with the money to build the "Universal Window".
I still stick to my point that MSFT had the underlying advantage of owning the DOS operating system. Borland and Corel were at a disadvantage in developing a windows system with a DOS shell. But now that MSFT has combined the OS with the Window system, it creates a new, level playing field.
I understand that INTC is developing their new chips to be compatible with ALL operating systems; another plus for a competitor. I bet HP has the horse power to develop a new system. Windows 95 really has no great fans from what I can tell. Windows 95 is impossible to modify and is also prone to "lock up". Their concept of a system registry is awful...combining the .ini files into one data base is a disaster.
Plus computer people HATE MSFT! If the computer nerds found a more user friendly OS/Window program that was compatible with UNIX, DOS, Windows 95, etc., I think you would have a winner. If this new system could actually be programed it would be even better. I liked the autoexec.bat file and the old DOS system. It gave me the power to configure my computer just like I wanted it.
Furthermore, for the zillions of novices out there, a window program that could be set to "Level 1" would be wonderful. That way, the newbie could turn on his computer, hop on the net, write a letter, balance his check book, and play a game..and never have to worry about his system locking up. Sounds pretty good to me.
Aren't you getting kinda sicka burgers? And how did they manage morph the clown by blowing him into pieces and recreating him years later as a Generation X'er?
