Is there an end game plan for any of them ?? Do we know what a "victory" in Syria/Iraq/Afghanistan/Libya/Ukraine even looks like ?? Have we even defined it ?? Is Syria merely a "theater" for our military to live fire test our latest weapons systems ?? Are we engaged in mutual military "dick waving" with the Soviets in Syria ?? Is our presence on the ground contributing to the refugee crisis and expanding the number of militant jihadists that hate us and subsequent immigration policy problems this creates ?? How do we clean up the previous administrations messes ?? What are we doing that's good policy and what isn't working ?? Trump seems to be "friendly" to coal, our arguably dirtiest way to "boil" water .. The Southern Company is about to grid connect the Kemper Project .. the first new "clean" coal power station utilizing carbon capture and sequestration .. We've got some utility scale solar PV and offshore wind projects in the pipeline .. The TVA, Southern Company and SCANA Corp are all building new AP-1000 PWR reactors ( five in total ) and the TVA plant just went online this quarter .. The natural gas guys have figured out that if you stick a couple of wind turbines next to your gas generating station you get to charge 4X what a stand alone gas plant would make due to the "renewable power" mandates passed by various liberal controlled state legislatures . We have taxpayer funded Gen III and Gen IV nuclear reactors that are ready to commercialize .. GE's IFR can act as a "waste burner" using existing "spent" reactor fuel bundles as fuel .. Other designs are passively safe, proliferation unsuitable and operate at atmospheric pressures and even "breed" their own fuel ( MSBR ) We ( as a society ) have collectively spent billions at our National Labs proving these designs .. If we want or need to de-carbonize our energy generation ( I'm man made climate change agnostic ) then Gen III and Gen IV nuclear power is the only viable carbon free way to proceed .. Triff ..
