OK, jumped ship on ALLY because my initial thesis did seem to work out and took some tax losses.You went into BAC and some Gas instead and think both of them have outperformed ALLY. does that make me right or wrong. It's a bit hard to tell, because obviously I would have done better keeping ALLY and buying BAC and GS. However, given my sector allocation goals, that was not what I wanted at this point.
congrats to your win, I have no issues, because at is think one needs to look at this from a portfolio perspective. I did get a bunch of BAC around $12 and did well, so, in a way, I made my money back and then some with a higher conviction bet. I think there is a lot of, potential issues with ALLY, they are a great deposit gathering machine, but I don't like the way they invest them, the car lending business is poor and I don't like the mortgage business either, because that is what caused to go get into receivership to begin with (when they were GM finance).
