Glad you qualified that with "telephone".

Bet if you checked around at Motorola, you'd find that those BIG, FAT modems (cable modems) are not just hanging-around taking up space.

AOL needs to figure out how they are going to fit into that picture. They should have been making deals with cable companies long ago, and are probably too late for the party. Now they are going to be left with fight it out as a "content provider" (e.g. a big web site).

AOL's speciality has always been providing access for the masses. The irony is that they have ignored the ultimate means of providing net access to the massess, which will be provided without the help of AOL.
