I wonder how they got those 4 trillion reserves if not exporting.

China grew up exporting and using the proceeds to build the country's infrastructure.

They discovered they were enriching Australians Oil exporting countries and Brazilians.
Added to that the increasing costs of pollution and increased labor, they decided to go value added.
