Single-Payer health care would have turned health insurance companies, and many hospitals and other providers into opponents of the Affordable Care Act instead of friends of the Affordable Care Act.

As Trump is belatedly discovering, you need a lot of friends to make things happen in our system of government.

It may seem fun to gratuitously offend everyone and threaten them, but this means you become a "do-nothing President".

The current TrumpCare scheme is to add the value of employer-provided health care to each employee's taxable income, an extra $15,000 or so in taxable income - adding a good $1,500 to $4,500 to the income taxes all employees pay the Federal government each year.

It will certainly test Trump's relationship is with American employees. Some politicians claim most Trump supporters were already unemployed, so they're going to be fine with this income tax rise. But I don't believe that.

And all of this simply because there's a small group of weirdos who refuse to provide themselves with health insurance.

But Mitch McConnell is making sure those people pay a huge penalty premium of they later choose to buy health insurance when they get sick or get into an accident - which may price them out the market anyway.
