No it isn't. <<money is the root of all evil at all levels>> Money is just a unit of measurement, like kilograms, time, velocity, energy, power, force, distance, etc etc etc. Money is a unit that defines value. Money is no more evil than gravity, inches, gallons, kilograms. Gold for example is money. If you look at a pile of gold coins, it's odd that you see a pile of evil. It's just a pile of metal. It becomes money when people swap it for other things.
Greed is the root of all evil. Greed and envy are the evil twins. Jealousy is a subset of envy.

Greed for money or other things is where evil enters the picture.

Quarterly earnings do define value. A company with no earnings and no prospect of earnings is not long for this world. I dislike it a LOT when my companies do not make mega bucks. The more the better because making a lot of money means a lot of value was created and provided to the buyers.

My theory is that people who subscribe to the slogan "Money is the root of all evil" are people who suffer from envy, jealousy and greed. They should try the slogan, "Don't let a slogan do your thinking for you".
