This guy (Oldman/Oleman) bears listening to, as he like other respected posters on this thread has a "test of time" pronouncement!!

The bond close today is the most significant single development in the markets since I
started investing over 25 years ago.

bondz: 9 months ago I announced here that I had taken the largest bond position of
my life. At that time I said 130 was the long term target. I expected that to happen
late this year, during the coming recession. To make a solid all time high now, while
the economy is still in an expansionary mode, means 150 is the minimum, with a final
high between 180-200 very doable. It also means that there are SOME things that
even Bobby R and the Boyz cannot control. I am stating categorically, without
reservation that we are heading for a deflationary depression. within 1 year from
today, the Earnings of the Dow 30 will be NEGATIVE. We may have a blowoff high
in stocks, or we mayh not see new highs----I dont know. But, by early next year, we
will see the DJIA south of 3000. Mark it down---1/5/98 122^29. This is REAL! All
IMVHO, of course.

two: I dont think a solid new all time high in bonds, coupled with almost a 3% drop in
gold and a 2 yr low in the CRB is an omen of an economy that is going to "continue
to expand."
