3/10/2017 Contest update
Back on January 30th, it was NO See RX. Then, this Wednesday it became Oh See Rx. But a bit of investor myopia returned today and OCRX only managed to close up a mere 130% for the week. Nonetheless, OCRX was the alpha stock leading a zippy pack of Contest winners. And since OCRX is held in 9 Contest portfolios and the No. 2 in the pack, TGTX, is held in 8 Contest portfolios, it was a supercalifragilisticexpialidocious week.
At Friday’s close, the Contest median was up a stellar 18.40% YTD (vs. up 12.92% YTD a week ago). The Nasdaq Biotech Index (NBI) was up 13.46% YTD (vs. up 14.14% YTD a week ago) and the smaller-cap S&P Biotechnology Select Industry Index (SPSIBI) was up 20.82% YTD (vs. up 20.56% YTD a week ago). The Nasdaq Composite Index (NCI) closed up 8.89% YTD (vs. up 9.06% YTD a week ago).
Fueled by the week’s top two gainers, OCRX and TGTX, TOMP’s portfolio, up 52.38% YTD, edged past BIOADD’s portfolio, up 52.04% YTD, to take the Contest lead. Another 20% TGTX holder, BRANKO’s portfolio, up 44.26% YTD, vaulted into third place.
At Friday's close, 46 of the 48 Contest portfolios were now in the green, with 33 beating the NBI and 20 beating the SPSIBI.
The 195 Contest portfolio stock picks have an average YTD gain of 17.87% and a median YTD gain of 8.44%, with 126 of the 195 picks up for the year.
Below is the Top Ten list. Also below are the Top 5 & Bottom 5 Stocks for the week ranked by % Gained and % Lost YTD. (Prices not converted to US$ in these Tables.)
Portfolio adjustments: As posted last Saturday, the WGBS buyout cash was quickly paid to shareholders. So I did the reallocation to BIOADD’s portfolio using Friday, 3/3, closing prices.
(All corrections, especially adjustments for splits, greatly appreciated.)
Enjoy a safe and relaxing weekend biotechies!
Peace & good health,
Bulba
