Now get yourself an all electric Leaf or or all electric,, you choose ..new or used.
Now you are ready to experience vehicle ownership ,, that makes sense in 2017.
You have a great advantage over others as you still have that ol chariot of a gas guzzler, Camray... that you can use for longer trips if needed ,,and probably only needed once a year,, hell,, scrap the ol girl and rent a guzzler if you need to.
Now set the timer in your new beauty to charge when rates are low,, usually the middle of the night and plug her in ... takes 10 seconds ,,I've timed it ..in the morning away you go anywhere ya want buzzing all around town,, come home , park her in the shed and take another 10 seconds to plug her in again.. Now how easy is that.. 8 cents a KWHR beats $ 2 litre gas and best of all no maintance or REPAIRS to speak of ,, as you know the never ending list for infernal combustion.
This charging by halo is all hokum ( 30 years out maybe) This concern over charging stations and charging away from home is all hokum too ..unless you are a traveling salesman .
Lithium ion battery concerns seems to me all hokum too,, iPad charge discharge daily up and down .. 6 years no degradation.. Leaf 5 years old and have not lost a bar so far.. battery chemistry pretty decent,, no?
