Interesting articles.. The Finnish Jews I understand because Finland refused to cooperate with Nazi Germany to implement the "final solution". The only reason the Finns were on Germany's side was for the purpose of regaining the territory they lost to Russia in the Winter War of 1939.

Half-Jews, who were primarily secular, or chose to side with their non-Jewish heritage, I can also understand.. But as the article states, Hitler planned on disposing of them as well, as soon as the war was won..

But again, these were volunteers.. And nothing is mentioned about Japanese forcing Koreans to fight. Some were conscripted, but many others volunteered, such as the former Korean President, who attended the Japanese Army Academy.. Some 100,000 Koreans served in the Japanese military.. My understanding is that many of them served as prison camp guards.

But to return to the issue of comfort women, no military has time to run a sex slave industry.. There are much easier means to provide for the sexual "needs" of their soldiers.

This is not to say that brothels were not organized and the health of the women not supervised..

Anyone who has served overseas in pretty much any country knows that brothels existed, and US Soldiers utilized those services, and often US medical personnel oversaw the health conditions of the women in order to prevent venereal diseases.

In fact, the Japanese did just that for US soldiers occupying Japan. But the women were highly paid..

"As expected, after it opened it was elbow to elbow," the history says. "The comfort women ... had some resistance to selling themselves to men who just yesterday were the enemy, and because of differences in language and race, there were a great deal of apprehensions at first. But they were paid highly, and they gradually came to accept their work peacefully."
The comfort women issue really depends on how one defines it. If you include paid prostitutes, then yes.. there were comfort women and the Japanese gov't cooperated and facilitated it. But so did the US on our own territory (Hawaii especially)..

But if you're referred to unpaid sex slaves, the controversy does not bear the light of truth, or even logic..
