NEWS: McDATA Appoints New Vice President of Sales and Marketing
BROOMFIELD, Colo., Jan. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- McDATA Corp., a strategic supplier of Fibre Channel switching products and services, announced the appointment of Michael A. Klayko to the position of executive vice president responsible for sales and marketing. In his new position, Klayko directs all worldwide sales and marketing operations for the company, including OEM and end-user sales and services, strategic product marketing, competitive analysis, and technical and marketing communications. He reports to John (Jack) F. McDonnell, chairman of the board, president and CEO.
Klayko brings to McDATA more than 20 years of sales and marketing management experience in the high-technology sector. Prior to joining McDATA, he was senior vice president of North American sales and services for EMC, based in Hopkinton, MA. During his two-year tenure at EMC, North American sales contributed more than 50 percent of EMC's corporate revenue, which totaled more than $2 billion in 1996.
Prior to EMC, Klayko held numerous sales and marketing management positions with Hewlett-Packard (HP), including his last assignment as director of worldwide marketing for the Computer Systems Organization. Klayko's extensive career also includes 13 years at IBM in marketing and sales management roles for IBM's large systems, AS/400 and personal computer businesses.

Klayko holds a B.S. in electronic engineering from the Ohio Institute of Technology in Columbus, Ohio. He is a graduate of the Executive Education Program at Babson College in Wellesley, MA.
