Comments come after meeting Friday with group of 13 Republican lawmakers

The House GOP health-care plan picked up an important endorsement from leaders of a bloc of conservative lawmakers, after President Trump agreed to back more stringent curbs on Medicaid funding and proposals to add work requirements for its beneficiaries.

Mr. Trump won them over by agreeing to two changes. One would let states impose a work requirement on Medicaid recipients. The second would allow states to choose between receiving their federal Medicaid funding in the form of a block grant or as a per capita allotment.
