It is both exhilarating and foreboding to me.

One thing is for sure, the transition is going to be painful. There are whole industries that are going to get disrupted. Autos, insurance, auto repair, real estate, retail, delivery systems, trucking, railroads, etc. The list is insanely long and covers a substantial portion of the economy. Nearly every one of my investments has been in either mobile or OLED's and I think self-driving cars might be the third area where I focus my attention.

There is going to be major push back from some consumers though. You can see it in polling and the comments sections of articles. Plenty of people fear the idea of giving up control of their vehicles.

We are going to need plenty of data to show that self-driving cars are dramatically safer than their normal counterparts.

One interesting thing in the above poll is that baby-boomers are the most fearful of self-driving cars, but I think they stand to see the most benefit. The fact that they would never have to give up their mobility even as they age would be a huge change from today. I know I would love it if my parents, who are in their 70's, didnt have to worry about driving in their 80's.
