Neil,

Have you, or anyone else, done any research on McData? I've pretty much ignored them, because they were an EMC captive until recently. The $180 Million revenue figure from their press release caught my attention. Any idea whether this is all Fibre Channel, or are they involved in other areas?

The reason I ask is that in order to come close to $7.3 Billion for total Fibre Channel revenues in 1998, there are going to have to be some big guns selling a lot of FC. Ancor-like numbers, unless we get a huge ramp, just won't get us there. Even at $180 Million in Fibre Channel revenue per company, you would need 41 companies to exceed $7.3 Billion. Either we are truly on the verge of a Fibre Channel explosion, or those numbers are way too high. (McData's numbers were for fiscal 1996, so it is possible that 1997 is much higher.)
