Well, if sub $1000 computers had space available, that would be fine and dandy. But these computers only have room for a 1.44 floppy and a CD-Rom. Both of these drives put together are less expensive than a Zip. There is no other slot in these cheap computers to put anything else.

This is why Sony HiFi has a chance to get into these systems as an option, without losing the capacity to use 1.44 floppies (which BTW, are still the #1 method of transferring files from computer to computer.)
