Can someone explain to me in unjargoned English... to someone who does not understand options very well at all just what I am looking at when I see the CBOE $SKEW index.

I have looked at it and find it interesting and want to investigate using this index.

I think I have a handle on the VIX... and that was a struggle :) I would appreciate the Skew for Dummies version from someone.
