President Trump and his daughter, Ivanka, are under fire again.Over the weekend, Ivanka Trump posted a photo of herself seated next to German Chancellor Angela Merkel to her Twitter. Trump and Merkel were both in a "robust discussion" about Workforce Development during the most recent diplomatic visit between U.S. and Germany at the White House. According to the Associated Press’ report, Trump even “recruited the American executives in attendance” and “guided the discussion”.

Since the posting of the photo, there has more than a bit of backlash against Ivanka, with political commentators questioning her presence in a meeting of foreign leaders.

Matt McDermott, Senior analyst at Whitman Insight Strategies, joined a host of voices who expressed outrage and concern that the daughter of the President would be invited to an official discussion between CEOs and world leaders.

"There is no earthly reason why Ivanka Trump belongs in a meeting with a foreign leader, let alone seated immediately beside them," he wrote on his Twitter.

“Imagine if Hillary Clinton met with German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Chelsea Clinton was seated next to her for official meeting. You can't. It's unimaginable.”

A European politician also chimed in, tweeting, “The key relation btw Germany & USA is a serious matter. It shall not be family business I disagree with Ivanka Trump presence.”

Since then, several people have taken to Twitter and Instagram to slam Ivanka’s presence at the discussion, calling for her involvement in serious political matters to be scaled back.

Since the appointment of Trump as president, Ivanka’s role as the ‘honorary First Lady’, in place of Trump’s wife Melania, has been under intense scrutiny. Ivanka has expressed distaste for those “inappropriate” rumours.
