With open free market competition, companies would then most definitely reduce costs to attract more buyers and they would make up the difference on volume... this is exactly how McDonald's burger place beat out their competition and won the major market share... they charged 15 cents for a burger, it was unheard of, but they did and everyone went to them to buy their burgers, and fires, and drinks... they sold millions and then billions, and then the rest is history, obviously... free market competition always works if we let it...
