Hi UE,

My wife and I combined pay $800.00 a month for our health insurance $9600 annually - $7500 deductible.

Before Obama care it was a $2000 deductible.

This is a group employer policy where we insure almost 100 employees. All employees get the same coverage but pay more if a spouse or children are included in the coverage

We have $ 35.00 co pays for a doctor visit $60.00 copay for a specialist $90.00 emergency room service.

prescription drug copays are for $ 15.00 generic and other drug copays vary if for long periods of time.

We rae very fortunate to be healthy - but we eat well and have always exercised.

I ran marathons up until I was 52 when I suffered a knee injury/surgery and have not been able to put in the miles necessary to keep up in shape. Still wonder about paying 7500 and getting a new knee joint that would allow my return to marathoning - sigh.

Hospitals are fantastic here in Texas - Herman Memorial is 2 miles across Lake Woodlands - first rate and I can see it as I type this.

If cancer ever showed - MD Anderson here in Houston is perhaps the best.

For very old age (my mother is alive and 98) and assisted care, I would return to Wisconsin where I believe the German work ethic is alive and well. My mother just went to assisted care living this November and she has gained some weight with 3 meals a day vs my two a day care- some was late at night as I got hung up at a watering hole. LOL

Health insurance is not a right.

Health insurance is a very expensive item.

So expensive - that wealthy people who could easily retire - DON"T- because they want to retain their employee provided health insurance.

Employers have leverage as they represent many policies and we do an extensive annual shopping of costs.

Much of the cost is determined by the medical expense experience of your employees - which fortunately for us has been good.

We are a NO SMOKING environment and will pay for cigarette quitting drugs or patches - we've had some success with getting a few employees off the nicotine addiction.

It all adds up to a fairly good wellness program.

All of the owners (myself included) do not smoke and we are not overweight.

This July I will be eligible for Medicare my wife currently is eligible.

Yes when I leave the dealership I will go on Medicare - which I have to pay more for because in my life I have earned more.

The cost of Part B is a progressive tax/fee.

I would be eligible for filing jointly (married)

Part B premiums are based on modified Adjusted Gross Income:

0 - $85,000 - 104.90

$170,000 - $214,000 - 146.90

$214,001-$320,000 - 209.80

$320,000 - $428,000 - 272.70

more then 428,000 - 335.70

So this was the insanity of Obamacare - if you did not work AND HAD LOW INCOME, the government gave you a rebate that made it free.

The poor schmuck that worked till what is called Full Retirement Age (FRA) 66 for me, then has to pay more for Part B Medicare - because I earned more in my life and literally paid in more and got less.

The guy who did nothing just gets it free.

I don't mind telling you that's a load of crap!!

Obama care took that load of crap to a train load of crap.

Once a person has health insurance it is scary to go with out.

Now in the USA we are HEARING THE SCREAMING MOSTLY FROM THOSE WHO HAD IT FOR FREE and don't want to pay for it.

It is simply too expensive an entitlement to give away free - espeacially when one looks at the unfunded obligations we have on entitlement plans ALREADY!!

Now is the time our politicians realize that our countries solvency is more important than their cherished political careers - I DOUBT IT WILL HAPPEN.

My dealership insurance is a much better deal than Medicare part B - I will miss it when it is gone.

I have no problem telling people if you want good insurance - get a job because I DO!!

It provides one of the best incentives to embrace work.

To offer it free as a rebate to low income worker places an incentive on NOT WORKING.

That is the load of crap I can not agree with!

Bob

Rant over! <smile>
