Yes if you read in the article J P also made a three others. 2 of $20M and a $12M to other hospitals.

Plus unmentioned contributed to funding the building of a new wing to Vancouver children's hospital where the effort to do so was handled by Teck resources and it's CEO Don Lindsay. The cost of the building wing, over $20M was totally paid for by donation, Building contractors who worked constructing it kicked back some of their profit to help pay for medical equipment needed within.

Fortunately our family down to great grand children have not required special medical treatments like some. How ever we instituted a practice years ago. Where we donate yearly $500 X the 7 healthy children we had. Our children do much the same only in a bit lesser amount as they are still raising families and a couple still have house payments.

Some Canadians who are on a tight budget do things like bottle drives, or collect things for garage sales and flea market tables and either group or singly donate their profits. When it is for the good of all.
No donation or time spent is to small or to large. It all contributes to the end result.

Variety Club BC is another non profit organization that raises 5 to $8 Million each year by public donation and funds children's medical needs. All help in Variety Club is donated BC television donates for free 24 hrs of TV time each year on Valentines day for a Telethon. Where even the BC provincial Government contributes 1 to $200K

Bob McGrath from Sesame Street has came to the Telethon for decades and most of the time brings some other entertainer with him.

The organization is totally ran by donated service. Right up to the organizer and chief CEO does not take payment for his services. Nor does the CFO accounting firm.

That is why and how Canada is able to have free medical for it's people. When it is a non profit and getting sick is not exploited for share holder profits money flows into it willingly. The US States could do the same. But it takes allowing business to be profitable and a willingness by the people. (all the people) to be willing to pitch in.

There is no Political party in Canada that does not support Canadian Medical All donations are fully tax deductible.

To have low cost medical. The US must get rid of shareholders for profit ran hospital services. They don't have to be ran and operated by Government Just regulated by. Then let the people, non profit organizations and qualified members on hospital boards do the rest.

Canada is certainly not a utopia. And it does have many faults like any other country. But the medical system is something the US could learn from and possible emulate in many ways. Being a person who dwells in both countries I see it up close first hand. Not just the Bullshit politicians peddle.
