The study I was referring to is ongoing and results were only available early this year. I am also very confused about Nortel. Why
are they going (or are they really going) with QAM when they
have internal studies that show the performance advantages of DMT
w/AM noise.

I remember a conversation of a few weeks back where one of the big
thoughts was that CAP would win out first partly because nortel
went with QAM.

Maybe they are only going w/QAM because they want something very soon.
and eventually they will migrate to DMT. This is my perception.
Everybody (except maybe Dave H) believes that DMT will ultimately
be the communication protocol of choise for ADSL if not VDSL.
