I carried an empty suitcase with me to Madrid- because I was allowed 2 cases, and I have many food requests from friends to fill- so I took some stuff to some friends in Madrid as well- and I think pancake syrup triggered a TSA inspection :-) I've never had TSA inspect my luggage before (they leave you a note, as well as a nice little stamp- telling you what numero TSA inspector had the pleasure of rifling through your undies.) I'm keeping the note as a souvenir. It was a smallish suitcase- with bisquick, syrup and some running shoes- and I put some jeans in with it so it didn't look crazy. Madrilenos are fairly obsessed with Trump (and upset)- though they are more upset about Brexit- which may hurt them economically, given that it will change the ability of Britons to retire in Spain or have second homes- as it will change tax status and investment rules and many other things (apparently Portugal will be hit hard as well.) But the weather is gorgeous here and the food is marvelous. We discovered canistels yesterday- which apparently some people grow in Florida- but which come from India. Delicious. Try them if you can find them- they are also called the egg fruit.
