I should have been more specific, as it was gold, silver and copper (for the most part) that powered the AUD higher and into it's peak in 2011 (more so than oil). It was the commodity boom that accelerated out of the "dot-com bust" that was the initial catalyst.

I don't have a long term Iron ore reference but I'm pretty sure that was near it's peak in 2011 as well.....
