3/31/2017 Contest update
Biotechs more than survived the first quarter and the Contest median actually outperformed the high-flying SPSIBI by a smidgen. Congrats to all our terrific Contest stockpickers!
(I will shortly post quarterly performance data for all Contest portfolio stocks, as well as an anonymous list of Contest portfolio performance.)
At Friday’s close, the Contest median was up 17.39% YTD (vs. up 12.31% YTD a week ago), the Nasdaq Biotech Index (NBI) was up 10.70% YTD (vs. up 9.50% YTD a week ago) and the smaller-cap S&P Biotechnology Select Industry Index (SPSIBI) was up 17.29% YTD (vs. up 16.18% YTD a week ago). The Nasdaq Composite Index (NCI) closed up 9.82% YTD (vs. up 8.28% YTD a week ago).
BIOADD’s portfolio, up 62.41% YTD, inched past second place ROBO’s portfolio, up 62.00% YTD, to take the Contest lead, while TOMP’s portfolio, up 48.08% YTD, fell to third place.
At Friday's close, 44 of the 48 Contest portfolios were in the green, with 36 beating the NBI and 24 beating the SPSIBI (including, for a change, my own portfolio).
The 195 Contest portfolio stock picks have an average YTD gain of 16.52% and a median YTD gain of 7.50%, with 128 of the 195 picks up for the year.
Below is the Top Ten list. Also below are the Top 5 & Bottom 5 Stocks for the week ranked by % Gained and % Lost YTD. (Prices not converted to US$ in these Tables.)
Portfolio adjustments: As per my prior post and since there were no objections, I added 2434.48 EYESW warrants to ROCKY’s portfolio. (At Friday’s close the total value of the EYESW warrants was $900.76.)
(All corrections, especially adjustments for splits, greatly appreciated.)
Enjoy a foolhardy-free April Fool’s weekend biotechies!
Peace & good health,
Bulba
