"Crichton was a fool and I don't bother reading fools"

Not totally; he said old scientists are wrong.

"One proof of this suppression is the fact that so many of the outspoken critics of global warming are retired professors. These individuals are no longer seeking grants, and no longer have to face colleagues whose grant applications and career advancement may be jeopardized by their criticisms. In science, the old men are usually wrong."

Then he goes foolish again, when he says they can make up for being wrong by becoming political. He thinks factual wrongs can be compensated for by being politically right, proving that politicizing science is indeed, harmful

"butt in politics, the old men are wise, counsel caution, and in the end are often right. "
