How do you know that? And of course it was cultural, but the culture had to be educated to give rights to women.

No humans on earth anywhere I know of, gave equal rights to women until they were educated. No where, ever.

And the religions of the world never helped with equal rights for women or democracy. It was books, and the philosophers books created, that gave humans women's rights, ethics and democracy.

Subjugation of women was pervasive and categorical around the world until people became civilized. Check your history and anthropology. You will find few to no cultures where women were treated equally until about a 100 years ago.

And the reason for this are the instincts of all apes (we being the naked ape) except the bonobos, that make males dominate.

Cultural!! ..............The Scandinavian cultures gave rights to women waaaaaay before they were educated
