Not good news JF,

I had hoped your file problem was system based and not file based.

You sent me a few files and they all had a "crypted" extension at the end.
Example: file-name. pdf. crypted

I deleted "crypted" to give the files normal names, but that had no effect. However, the files did not attempt a secondary infection, but not knowing what you had, I had you send me a few files, because I didn't want you to infect a second computer of your own.

I'm sorry I couldn't help, but you're most likely faced with reinstalling windows.

These links may help you with that and they are also in the thread header menu.

Belarc Advisor: This will give you your windows product key for a new install.

Create Install Media: This has links to download Win 7 , Win 8.1, and Win 10.

I'm so sorry I couldn't help more.
