Ray,

Just thought I would take a moment and try and explain what is
happening as far as this type of selling is concerned.

First off, these large institutional investors are realigning their
portfolio's. Lowering their overall percentage within the gold
sector for example. In other words, instead of 25% weighting in
precious metals its now 15%. They are under orders and are
only following instructions.

Generally speaking when this is done, it is always following a
worthy news release that stirs up activity. This way they remove
their position without damaging the company stock position too
much.

If we look back to the news release on the 18 MAR 97 you will
find which houses did the private placement and then compare
it to the recent trading activity and you will note that the majority
of trading (selling) is from these houses. They do this methodically
and really do not care about the small investor. And yes it should
of been completed in December but obviously due to the other
houses crowding the board they obviously had to wait until now.

We have confirmed these comment with several of these houses
and through conversation with Peter at Antares.

You are also correct in assuming they are shorting. Due to the
lack of confidence within the gold sector it appears there are still
a lot of pro's selling short expecting this market to continue. This
also was confirmed through several houses and contacts. There
is considerable risk to this in my opinion as I believe Gold is about
to break out upside shortly.

Either way we have no choice but to ride it out. It is extremely
disappointing to all of us and the company I'm sure. But I believe
it will turn around very soon. One other thing that Antares could
possibly do is withhold news until it is substantial enough to spike
this stock considerably. ie; proven reserve of at least 2 million
ounces. But with the slow process of drilling and lab and engineer
this may not be feasible.

At any rate. I guess all we can do is close our eyes and not watch
this blasted screen.

All the best
