I have always (or in the last 30 years) used the 200-day MA to define for me the difference
as to weather I think we are in a bear or bull market.
I use only 20, 50, and 200-day MAs
and have used EMA graphs since the Internet became prominent. The EMA was too hard
to calculate by hand until the general use of computers. I would remind you again that I do
not believe charts should be more than 40% of one's decision during stock trading. They
should be viewed along with other factors, as I stated earlier: Message 31022877
