IMO:

During a deflation gold and silver rise because MONEY becomes dear, and gold and silver are traditionally the market's MONEY (i.e., unofficial money, real liquid assets, for when the official stuff loses trust or disappears).

The supply dynamic is I suspect much more compelling in the case of gold. So where would the price be but for CB sales and threats of sales?

OK I'm back to believing someone has an agenda. Expect a sudden "shortage" of gold someday soon.
