owner will likely be facing a lawsuit.
No doubt. That guy had some serious injuries and will probably never walk the same. They had to bring a helicopter over to fly him to the mainland for surgery. The island only has a clinic and is not equipped to take care of major injuries.

The discussion by the islanders is about whether the City of Avalon is going to be held responsible.

The City itself is still owned by the descendants of William Wrigley, of the chewing gum fame. The rest of the island is under the Island Conservancy, who are charged with protecting the pristine state of the island, according to Wrigley's will.

Most of the people are with the Conservancy and against Wrigley's heirs, who are tearing down the old buildings that made the town quaint and erecting modern eyesores in order to attract more tourists - and money.

The fight took place on city-owned docks.
