I'm interested in this, but have a lot to learn. Macroeconomics was never my best subject, and trying to understand the relationship between different currencies is difficult for me. Feel free to direct me to any good "Currency Trading For Dummies" articles.

I also don't know much about futures. I believe that futures give a person great leverage, and allow him to make or lose many times his original margin requirement? It also seems that the professional's performance over amateurs is much better in futures than in the common stock arena?

Because of these factors, I don't want to play with futures -- however, I imagine that much could be accomplished (with a reduction of risk) through buying puts and calls on currency and cross-rate options, which can be accomplished through any broker.
