Charlottesville sprint/ fujitsu/ orctf trial ....... Hi Claude, Thanks for posting the press release... Altho the "trial" is nowhere near as "intense" as the netherlands... it has it's own charm... - its a first (orctf/fujitsu n. american trial) - its from fujitsu (and orctf gets equal billing)... they are pushing the product.. "high level of customer support and installation training provided by Fujitsu...'' and definitely marketing tone... quotes from director of "corporate business development" at Fujitsu... (not just technical) - Altho small potatoes... it still is Sprint, no previous connections i've heard of (with orctf).. - Sprint chose speedport after evaluation of other's products : "... the new SPEEDPORT DMT (discrete multi- tone) modems had the highest transmission performance of all the systems we evaluated,'' said Mike O'Shea, project manager for Sprint's xDSL trial. ''They operated despite very high levels of interference noise and enabled us to achieve megabit rates on long lines that were previously considered unsuitable for high-speed data transfer..." - Medical environment targeted (as opposed to residential)... might be a market ready to get going now... higher margins... bandwidth demand... sounds tailor made for a vdsl component (but not mentioned)... best wishes s
