HDD Reliability ...

<< Never had a external portable Seagate drive fail on me. I have 6 I own and 2 are too small for my needs now. >>

I'm still confused about your reference to your USB Toshiba drives. Could You please explain to me what you were referring to when you stated "I trust all my images on my computers to USB Toshiba hard drives with never a problem on the 4 that I own."

As I've pointed out before Ron, in this century (knock on wood) I've never had a hard disk drive (internal or external, 2.5" or 3.5" fail.

My internals on my 3 active desktop systems are running a Seagate (Win 10 Home on my 14 month old primary Dell) system, dual WDs (Win 8.1 Pro on my 8 year old HP Compaq tertiary desktop), and a Hitachi (my secondary 6 year old HP Win 7 Home system). [only the Dell supports USB 3.0]

As for externals: I've retired a fully functional 7 year old 500GB 3.5" Iomega USB 2.0 desktop, (2) 6 year old 3.5" USB 2.0 1.5TB Seagate GoFlex desktops one of which will be replaced soon by a new gen 3TB WD My Book, a prior gen 3TB WD My Book, a going on 3 year old 6th gen 1TB My Passport Ultra portable, an 18 month old 7th gen 1TB My Passport Ultra portable and this 10 month old external speedster by WD HGST ...

It's a nifty device and it lives up to its claim that it is ~23% faster than a 5400 RPM external device.

Cheers, - Eric L. -
