OFF TOPIC! Patrick! My goodness!! Why are you so determined to turn this into a battle? Do you enjoy that? I have no urge to fight about anything. When did I ever, ever say that the Americans had cornered the market on boorish behavior? In my first post I agreed with you, saying I had encountered rude French behavior on my own in Paris. Later I really did try to rectify my statement by saying that it was when people demanded English in a foreign country--and they frequently do- that they appear arrogant. No one nation has a corner on rude behavior by any means. As for misquoting you, I don't think I did at all; you did say that I was politically correct, that I made blanket statements and that I had insulted you, which I think would make me not a very nice person.
My husband travels internationally, like Thomas, and he has filled three passport books in several years. (I, unfortunately, have only filled 3/4 of one). His stories include the bad and the good. I certainly never meant to offend, insult, or argue with anyone. Not my style. Could we PLEASE give it up?
