Japan needs to lower taxes badly.
I seem to recall that overall taxation level in Japan is similar to US, if not lower. I am all for lower taxes, but in Japan case, i believe they are running deficits and have fairly large government debt.
I think what would help a lot more if the govrnment just got out of the way. Why do Japanese drive stupid small cars, have small apartments, getting a mortgage is almost impossible. Why does the government do all it can to reduce consumption and standard of living of Japanese as a policy, and then throws some money on some ill concieved govermnent project to "stimulate the economy"
Why can't the Japanese have the same standard of living as New Jersey, a more densly populated area than Japan, or the Upper East Side of Manhattan, one of the most densly populated areas on the Earth? Because the politicians don't want them to. The Japan Inc. wants their citizens to slave for their corporations.
Do they think they can export their way to prosperity? It's a pretty bizzare concept. Make a lot, send it abroad, get some paper money, gold or tresuries, or machines to make even more stuff. But don't consume any of the stuff you produce. Because you would have less of the foreign paper money, gold or machines.
