On Monday, Arkansas executed two death-row criminals in the nation’s first double execution since 2000. Americans in general still favor the death penalty, but they’re not convinced it actually helps deter crime.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 54% of American Adults favor the death penalty, while 31% oppose it. Another 15% are not sure how they feel about capital punishment. (To see survey question wording, click here.)
