4/28/2017 Contest update
Tweeting about high drug prices has apparently become a bore to Trump, putting biotech investors in an excellent mood. Consequently, the Contest median and the biotech indexes racked up big gains for the week.
At Friday’s close, the Contest median was up 18.59% YTD (vs. up 12.83% YTD a week ago), the Nasdaq Biotech Index (NBI) was up 12.33% YTD (vs. up 8.53% YTD a week ago) and the smaller-cap S&P Biotechnology Select Industry Index (SPSIBI) was up 20.75% YTD (vs. up 14.81% YTD a week ago). The Nasdaq Composite Index (NCI) closed up 12.34% YTD (vs. up 9.80% YTD a week ago).
Another week with no change in the Contest Top Three, but both BIOADD’s & TOMP’s portfolios closed in on first place ROBO’s portfolio. At April’s final market close, ROBO’s portfolio, up 56.83% YTD, remains our leader, with BIOADD’s portfolio, up 53.98% YTD, in second place and TOMP’s portfolio, up 51.64% YTD, in third place.
At Friday's close, 42 of the 48 Contest portfolios are still in the green, with 36 beating the NBI and just 18 beating the booming SPSIBI.
The 195 Contest portfolio stock picks have an average YTD gain of 14.77% and a median YTD gain of 9.73%, with 113 of the 195 picks up for the year.
