Have a look at this analysis by Robert Pringle ..... puts this BS we have been hearing about CB gold sales to bed vis-a-vis the decrease in the price of gold .... bottom line; many other years, CB sales have been much higher than '97 .... and gold has gone up - sometimes considerably. In fact, '97 sales are relatively small compared to other years.

IMO gold is being kept low to prevent it from being used by the Asian countries to get themselves out of hot water. As far as I am concerned, you may as well just put a big "For Sale" sign on most of Asia ..... and now they are indebted to the IMF - another level of control over their system.
