Thanks!

We stumbled upon Manchester on a 3 week camping trip in December of 1999. We stayed at Napa Bothe State park for a few days and wanted to head towards the coast and points north. We looked at a map that morning, and saw that there was a State park at Manchester, and it looked interesting. (Besides..........I'd always wanted to go to visit the town where "The Birds" was filmed.)

The whole area is extremely wild and very scenic. You can go down to the dock at Pt. Arena and purchase fresh seafood, or take a drive up to Mendocino and shop. The state park is huge with miles of hiking trails through the dunes and there is some really unusual geography. When we were there in '99 the State park was up and running, but unfortunately it has now been closed due to budget cuts in Cali., so when we go down we stay at the KOA, which is right next door to the SP. It's private, beautiful and the KOA has full hook-ups and a pool and hot tub. The last time we stayed was a year ago today, and a classic rv club came in the next day for the weekend. The rigs were really cool, the people very nice and it was all a lot of fun. They held an open house that weekend, so we went through several of them and learned a lot about the history of the rv industry.
